Volunteers are needed to greet clients, distribute meals, fill client orders, sort through donated canned goods, and stock shelves in our Grocery Center, which is open Monday from 10am-3pm, Tuesday from noon-7pm, and Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10am-3pm.
Volunteers assist with food preparation, cooking, packaging and storing of our homemade meals, or join the clean-up crew in the Food Outreach kitchen. Prep Cook Crews are scheduled most Fridays from 9am-noon, and Cook Crews are scheduled most Saturdays from 8am-noon.
A centerpiece of our program lineup, Hot Lunch Mondays are a favorite of clients, their families, caregivers, and staff. Assist in the kitchen or help us serve our clients, restaurant-style, in our dining room. Two shifts are available – lunch prep from 9:30am-11:30am, and lunch (which includes serving and cleanup) from 11:30am-1:30pm.
We love to welcome culinary crews from around the area to prepare their favorite dishes for clients to enjoy for Hot Lunch Mondays. To participate, you can be a chef, restaurateur, caterer, or simply someone with a passion for cooking! These special lunches give clients a rare opportunity to experience some of the culinary delights they otherwise might only hear about.
For clients weakened from illness and/or medical treatments, or who are unable to travel, Food Outreach delivers food orders directly to their homes. Volunteers help fill orders, label bags, and place orders in blast freezers, scheduled alternate Tuesdays from 9am to 11:30am.
Help the Food Outreach staff Monday through Friday by answering phones, preparing mailings, and assisting with a variety of other clerical tasks.
Put your name on a list to be “on call” to help with fundraising events, last minute special projects, and emergency cook and packs, scheduled as needed.
Assist our Nutrition Center Coordinator in putting away product. This opportunity may be scheduled an hour or two at a time on Mondays.
