Food Outreach began by simply providing fresh, homemade, healthful meals to a handful of close friends, but the vision of the organization’s stewards has always been to continually expand our services, and constantly renew our commitment, as we seek to support our clients in every conceivable way; in terms of nutrition, but also physical health and emotional fortitude. We’ve brought bright minds into the organization with uncommon passion, dedication, perspective, and capability. Collaboratively crafting a broad range of progressive outreach programs, we seek to provide the safe environment, anonymity, and loving support that so many underserved families affected by HIV and cancer so desperately need.
When I first got HIV, I felt like my life was over. Food Outreach changed all that. They treat me like a friend, and help me take care of myself. I eat more fruit now. The mandarin oranges are awesome.
Food Outreach has had a life-altering effect on me. I now look forward to getting up in the morning. I feel like people really do care about me and my health.
I was diagnosed with cancer, and my world was shattered. At one point I had to go to hotels looking for ‘free’ continental breakfasts. My prayer for food was answered when the Siteman Cancer Center referred me to Food Outreach.
I don’t know where I would be or if I ‘would be’ if I hadn’t made that first phone call to Food Outreach. Since then I have never been without food.
